The band from Illinois became part of the rise of nu metal during the late 90s and early 2000s. Mudvayne delivered a unique sound with incredible complexity but the same appeal as the neck breaking sound that fans loved from the era. Mudvayne experimened with math metal, alternative, num metal, and rock, creating a progressive sound that created their own identity. The band went to number 1 in 2005 with their single “Happy?” from their highest charting effort Lost and Found. The album also released “Determined,” their band’s first single to be nominated at the Grammys for Best Metal Performance.
